DIRECTIONS
If you are coming from the Cape Town side:
Drive through the town of Montagu - then from the "end" of Montagu you will cross the Kingna River bridge shortly after exiting the town, drive about 7.8 km to the Rietvlei No. 1 turnoff where you turn left. Drive 600 m on dirt road. Turn left where the road splits (onto tar). First gate on the right is us.
If you are coming from the Barrydale side:
Drive approx 53 km after leaving the small town of Barrydale - then take the SECOND Rietvlei No. 1 turnoff (i.e. you will see a 'Rietvlei No. 1' turnoff at around 51 km - ignore that one, take the next one) where you turn right. Drive 600 m on dirt road. Turn left where the road splits (onto tar). First gate on the right is us.

Fish Eagle Cottage

FISH EAGLE has two bedrooms; one fitted with a queen bed and the other with two single beds (which can be joined with a mattress topper to form a king-size bed on request). The delightfully quaint kitchen is fully equipped and the original huge fireplace makes the lounge/dining area very cosy. The indoor bathroom, which contains a toilet, shower and basin, leads off the main bedroom (i.e. guests in the 2nd bedroom will need to enter the indoor bathroom via the main bedroom), but the cottage also has a full outdoor bathroom that includes a shower and bath-tub with spectacular views.
Other outdoor features include a large and comfortable patio, seating and table, braai (barbecue), fire pit and a 4-6 person splash pool / wood-fired hot-tub in which to soak and take in the 360 degree mountain views.
The yelping calls of the Fish Eagles can be heard daily and their fishing tactics observed from the koppie on which the cottage is situated.

Pale Chanting Cottage

PALE CHANTING aces an area of typical Klein Karoo plain and a mountain backdrop. This plain is the hunting ground of our resident Pale Chanting Goshawks, and they are readily observed from the stoep (patio).
This private, comfortable cottage sleeps 2 in a queen bed. The kitchen has huge fireplace and is nicely equipped. The bathroom has a shower and toilet. The large outdoor patio is equipped with a table and chairs, a couch, an outdoor bath-tub as well as a wood-fired hot tub from which to enjoy the peace, quiet and mountain views. Wood for the braai and hot-tub is provided at no extra charge.
Fish Eagle and Pale Chanting stand back-to-back to each other and are ideal cottages for couples/families/friends traveling together. All our cottages are small as they are converted laborer cottages, however they are also cosy and comfortable.
Bokmakierie Cottage

BOKMAKIERIE sleeps 2 in a double bed and has a Victorian bathtub in the bedroom. A toilet is discreetly hidden behind reed-clad walls. The cottage has a kitchenette and lounge area with an indoor fireplace. There is an outdoor braai (barbecue) and patio with table & chairs on one side, and a comfortable relaxation patio and outdoor shower and toilet on the other. There is also an outdoor wood-fired hot-tub made out of a 1000 litre wine barrel that can accommodate 2-3 people.
A sleeper couch is available in the lounge area in order to accommodate 1 extra person, however this needs to be arranged with management in advance and may be subject to an additional fee per person per night.

Nonnetjie Cottage

NONNETJIE is a 2-bedroom cottage that sleeps 4 people. The main room has a queen bed, Victorian bathtub and a discreet toilet behind reed-clad walls. The second room has twin beds (convertable to a king-sized bed). The cottage has a kitchenette and lounge area with an indoor fireplace. There is an outdoor braai and patio with table & chairs on one side and a comfortable relaxation patio and outdoor shower and toilet on the other. The cottage also has a splash pool/wood-fired hot-tub.

James' Honeymoon Cottage

JAMES' HONEYMOON COTTAGE is a comfortable and romantic self-catering cottage that sleeps 2 in a queen bed. The bathroom has a bath-tub and shower with glorious mountain and Karoo-plain views. This is also the cottage that has air-conditioning.
There is kitchenette and an indoor fireplace in the small lounge with a comfortable patio, braai area, shower & splash pool/wood-fired hot-tub outdoors.
This cottage stands alone from the others and is our most private unit.
